Live Recording

Record live streams in real time and repurpose them for archive delivery

KRONOS DRIVE can record the live stream used for delivery while it is being streamed. Recorded video is stored directly in the cloud. With KRONOS DRIVE, you can start editing the recorded video while the event is still live and create mezzanine files for highlights and short clips. The entire workflow — from live streaming to catch-up and highlight delivery — is completed in the cloud.

Core features

Record the exact live stream used for delivery

Live streams fed into KRONOS DRIVE can be recorded as-is. Recorded video is immediately available for preview in the management console. Accumulated recordings can also be deleted automatically after a specified retention period, so recordings never fill up your storage more than necessary.

High-precision clipping

Cut short clips from recordings with frame accuracy and deliver them fast

With KRONOS DRIVE, you can use the live stream while it is still being delivered to start preparing catch-up and clip delivery mid-broadcast.

Rough cuts

During a live stream, you can roughly cut out the ranges you want to use later. A rough cut automatically extends until its specified end time, and can be used for editing — with preview — even while the event is still live. A single rough cut can be reused across multiple editing projects, making it useful for tasks like creating clips for each game.

External endpoints

External HLS endpoints can be used as rough cuts even when the video was not recorded in KRONOS DRIVE. External HLS resources support the same frame-accurate editing, so you can also create more precise catch-up material from the video that was actually streamed.

Quick editing

In the quick editing view built on rough cuts, simply adjust the start and end points with frame accuracy to cut out full-length video with high precision. You can also pick out multiple ranges to use, making it easy to create highlights and scene clips.

Toward more advanced editing

Import rough cuts into editing projects and shape them freely

Rough cuts can be used as source material in the editing features provided by KRONOS DRIVE. Use them to perform the edits your delivery requires, such as masking specific segments or adding jingles.

Two editing modes to match your needs

Assemble

Encode with images or audio overlaid on the source video file, or join it with other videos. For catch-up delivery files, this feature makes it easy to mask video and audio in the segments you need to cover.

Trimming

Trim specified portions of the source video, or insert other videos into it. When a rough cut originates from a broadcast master output, trimming can use the program exchange metadata to cut segments simply by reading the pre-assigned block types.

Integration across PLAY CLOUD services

Share live streams with the distribution feature

Live streams fed into KRONOS DRIVE can be distributed to other PLAY CLOUD services such as STREAKS and KRONOS PLAYOUT. Conversely, live streams fed into STREAKS or KRONOS PLAYOUT can be distributed to KRONOS DRIVE or output to external endpoints. There is no need to uplink multiple live streams of the same video for different purposes.
